El programa de mejora de almendro del IRTA ha sido financiado fundamentalmente por los proyectos: SC97-049, RTA01-081, RTA04-030, RTA07-057, TRT2006-00021-00-00, RTA2011-00130-00-00, AGL2013-48577-C2-2-R, RTA2017-00084-00-00, PID2020-114648RR-C31, y PDC2021-121639- 100. Unió Nuts financia desde 2014 una línea de obtención de variedades tipo ‘Marcona’. Leontina Lipan ha sido financiada por el Ministerio de Universidades y por la Unión Europea-Next Generation EU en el marco de las Ayudas para la Recualificación del Sistema Universitario Español, en la modalidad Margarita Salas. El programa de mejora ha contado con la participación técnica de N. Aletà; P. Arús; J. Clavé; M. López; M. Mnejja; A. Ninot; F. Pérez de los Cobos; M.A. Romero; M. Rovira; J. Santos; y W. Howard.
